Este tejano de 76 años, fué autor de la banda sonora de la película El Jinete Eléctrico de 1979 dirigida por el malogrado Sidney Pollack e interpretada por Robert Redford y Jane Fonda y por él mismo. Como actor intervino en una docena de películas. Como compositor y cantante de country grabó más de 50 álbumes.
Emulando a Quico Pi de la Serra que decía m'agrada el blues yo digo m'agrada el country.
