Can't help falling in love

Can't help falling in love
Elvis Presley

Wise men say
only fools rush in
but I can't help
falling in love with you.

Shall I stay
would it be a sin
if I can't help
falling in love with you.

Like a river flows
surely to the sea
darling so it goes
some things are meant to be.

Take my hand
take my whole life too
for I can't help falling
in love with you.

I'm all shook up

I'm all shook up
Elvis Presley

Well I bless my soul
What's wrong with me?
I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wired as a bug
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Well my hands are shaky and my knees are weak
I can't seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck?
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Please don't ask me what's on my mind
I'm a little mixed up, but I'm feelin' fine
When I'm near that girl that I love best
My heart beats so it scares me to death!

She touched my hand what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say that she's my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah!

My tongue gets tied when I try to speak
My insides shake like a leaf on a tree
There's only one cure for this body of mine
That's to have the girl that I love so fine!

She touched my hand and what a chill I got
Her lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say that she's my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Mm mm, oh, oh, yeah, yeah, I'm all shook up!

Are you lonesome tonight?

Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Roy Turk & Lou Handman (1926)
Interpretada por Elvis Presley

Are you lonesome tonight?
Do you miss me tonight?
Are you sorry we drifted apart?

Does your memory stray
To a brighter summer day
When I kissed you
And called you sweetheart?

Do the chairs in your parlor
Seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep
And picture me there?

Is your heart filled with pain?
Shall I come back again?
Tell me dear
Are you lonesome tonight?

Do the chairs in your parlor
Seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep
And picture me there?

Is your heart filled with pain?
Shall I come back again?
Tell me dear
Are you lonesome tonight?

In the ghetto

In the ghetto
Elvis Presley

As the snow flies
On a cold and gray Chicago mornin’
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto
And his mama cries
cause if there’s one thing that she don’t need
It’s another hungry mouth to feed
In the ghetto

People, don’t you understand
The child needs a helping hand
Or he'll grow to be an angry young man
Some day
Take a look at you and me,
Are we too blind to see,
Do we simply turn our heads
And look the other way

Well the world turns
And a hungry little boy with a runny nose
Plays in the street as the cold wind blows
In the ghetto

And his hunger burns
So he starts to roam the streets at night
And he learns how to steal
And he learns how to fight
In the ghetto

Then one night in desperation
A young man breaks away
He buys a gun, steals a car,
Tries to run, but he don’t get far
And his mama cries
As a crowd gathers round an angry young man
Face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto

And as her young man dies,
On a cold and gray Chicago mornin'
Another little baby child is born
In the ghetto

It's now or never

It's Now Or Never
Versión inglesa de "O sole mio"
Interpretada por Elvis Presley

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight.
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
my love won't wait.

When I first saw you
with your smile so tender
my heart was captured,
my soul surrendered.
I'd spend a lifetime
waiting for the right time
now that you're near
the time is here at last.

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight.
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
my love won't wait.

Just like a willow,
we would cry an ocean
if we lost true love
and sweet devotion.
Your lips excite me,
let your arms invite me
for who knows when
we'll meet again this way.

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight.
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
my love won't wait.

"O sole mio" es una conocida canción napolitana compuesta en el año 1898. La letra es de Giovanni Capurro, y la melodía la compuso Eduardo di Capua. La letra de la versión inglesa que canta Elvis la escribieron Aaron Schroeder y Wally Gold, y fue su mayor éxito de ventas. El disco salió en 1960. (Wikipedia)

Bécquer y recuerdos

Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, grabado de Bartolomé Maura (1884)
inspirado en un óleo de Valeriano Bécquer

Rimas y Leyendas XXX
Asomaba a sus ojos una lágrima,
y a mi labio una frase de perdón;
habló el orgullo y enjugó su llanto,
y la frase en mis labios expiró.

Yo voy por un camino, ella por otro;

Blue Moon
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own...
